More Popular Than NHL.com….WOW

In his blog yesterday, Eklund posted a “press release” which oddly enough is completely different from this version released by Versus.  Eklunds version states, among other things, the following outright lie:

Hockeybuzz.com, the most visited hockey only website in North America, announced today they will provide exclusive online content for VERSUS, the exclusive cable television home of the National Hockey League (NHL), during the 2009 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. [screenshot of blog]

Looking on Alexa.com and comparing NHL.com and Hockeybuzz.com (both hockey only) we get the following traffic ranks (average daily visitors and pageviews for the last 3 months). 

NHL.com – 900 [screenshot]

Hockeybuzz.com – 21,172 [screenshot]

*Keep in mind that this ranking includes Hockeybuzz.com’s busiest time of the entire year (NHL trade deadline in March)

**NOTE:  As usual Eklund went back and edited the press release (adding “independent“) after being ripped by his members….which is why we love screenshots
