The Matt Gilroy sweeps can’t officially begin until the probable Hobey Baker winner plays out his final four next weekend, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plenty of rumours surrounding the puck moving D-man. This kid was a recent guest on the Hockeybuzzcast Podcast and is such a great kid, who has worked his way to this great position he finds himself in.

Note: Although Eklund did get this one right (after naming 7 teams total), he went on to predict that he would sign on April 12th in his April 11th blog, but Gilroy instead signed on April 17th:

He plays his final game in college tonight. Matt Gilroy, Hobey Baker Winner and solid puck moving D-man is likely going to be signed tomorrow by either the Philadelphia Flyers or the Chicago Blackhawks. I was told this past week that the Flyers may be Gilroy’s first choice.

– The Sabres are NOT in on Jokinen. They are among the teams that question what Olli would do for a team’s chemistry. The Flames are very much in on Jokinen, as are the Habs, Sens, Hawks, and Rangers [link]

- The Flames are once again leading the pack along with the Sabres and Hurricanes in possibly dealing for Oli Jokinen. It really does appear as though Jokinen could be moved VERY soon here… [link]

- I am hearing that Washington, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh are all possible. [link]

– That being said, I am hearing more and more that Keith Tkachuk may leave again, but only for a true Cup shot. I am hearing that there is better than 75% chance that the Penguins will trade for either Tkachuk or Guerin from the Isles. Right now, today at least, I am hearing more Tkachuk. [link]

Matthieu Schneider to Montreal (e3). This is an interesting one on many levels and Schneider could help the ailing Habs power play. I could see this happening, but I don’t believe for a second that this is the rumored “big deal” that Carbs is sitting on in Montreal.

Rumours are out there this morning that the NY Rangers are again trying to upgrade their D, and although they are in the Jay Bo sweeps it is somewhat curious that I am hearing all of these Derek Morris rumors this morning from various sources. The Sabres are also heavily into Morris and with good reason. [link]
